'Words of Wisdom' Day 5 featuring Marjorie Masse

What does 'community' mean to you:
“Community, especially in the age of technology, has so many meanings. When I reflect on each of the communities to which I belong; family, clubs, coworkers, the island family, my neighborhood, old and new friends, and support groups, I feel truly blessed. Some of these groups are online and others are real time, but each represents relational connections within which we hold each other up. ”

Why is having a soul tribe important:
“We come to the world with such varied experiences, ways of processing, and even simple tastes, and yet we find that there are those who share on some level our common love for nature and humanity. This, especially in these times, is an extremely important scaffolding for happiness, serenity, and hope.”

What words of advice do you have for women seeking out deeper community and connection:
“Open your mind. Open your heart. Open a book. Open your home. Open your arms.”

What are your thoughts when it comes to personal growth:
“I believe that it takes all kinds of minds, and hearts, to nurture ourselves and to grow. This leads me to pose this question: Why does the soul tribe need to be exclusively female. I love the company of women. However so many men are so good. I fear that in this era of “otherization” that unless we intentionally become inclusive in all of our work we may be missing an important and loving component, while furthering a growing chasm in the larger community.”

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice what would it be:

“Stay in school, and don’t let anybody persuade you that you’re not smart enough just because it’s difficult.”
