'Words of Wisdom' Day 4 featuring Rachel Norton

What does 'community' mean to you:
“Community means a group of people who share similar values, goals, and interests. To me, community consists of my family and friends who I have chosen to keep in my life because we support, challenge, and love each other genuinely. ”

Why is having a soul tribe important:
“Having a soul tribe is super important because you need people who accept you for who you truly are in order to feel validated, understood and loved. My soul tribe is made up of some of my immediate and distant family members, friends from childhood, high school, college, grad school, and jobs that I’ve had. Everyone in my soul tribe is someone who I can confide in, trust fully, and enjoy spending time with. And I care deeply about them and their lives. Without my soul tribe, I wouldn’t be the person I am today.”

What words of advice do you have for women seeking out deeper community and connection:
“It’s important to be yourself from the beginning, otherwise, you’re going to attract the wrong people. It’s also crucial to actively listen to others who you meet in order to get to know them well. It’s imperative that you be a good listener so that you can be a supportive friend. ”

What are your thoughts when it comes to personal growth:
“Be patient with yourself. I’m 33, and I’m still figuring out who I am. Don’t define yourself by one thing. You can and should have different identities (career, family, friends, passions etc.) that all make up who you are and what you’re about. ”

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice what would it be:
“Have faith that you will find people who make sense in your life without doing/saying what you think that they want you to do/say.”

What do you love about being a woman:
“I love being able to nurture those I love. I feel like given the difficulties that women have faced and do face - I feel very empowered to be my true self. ”

'Words of Wisdom' Day 1 featuring Anya Nordström Deveaux

What does 'community' mean and look like to you: “Women supporting women whether it be in business, friendships or motherhood.”

Why is having a soul tribe important: “Being a woman in 2019 is tough. There is a ton of judgement and lots of unrealistic standards and societal pressures imposed on women. We need more strong female voices to share real life stories that share the reality of what being a business owner, entrepreneur, mom, wife, friend, etc. is really like and find ways to support each other. Especially those who choose to do things in non-traditional ways. Times have changed and while women have always carried a heavy burden in life, 2019 marks a transitional period where women really are "doing it all". We are running for office, creating empires, running business, having children, maintaining marriages and households - and doing it all at the same time.”

What words of advice do you have for women seeking out deeper community and connection:
“Create your tribe but always listen to your own intuition.”

What are your thoughts and experiences when it comes to personal growth and transformation: “Be grateful for the things that didn't work out. Sometimes you don't know where you are being guided to when in the midst of chaos. Just trust that greater things are aligning for you. Let go gracefully.”

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice when it comes to community, personal growth or life what would it be:
"There is no such thing as perfect balance. No two days will ever be the same and feel lucky for that! Surprise and spontaneity is what life is all about. Do all things in moderation and don't put too much pressure on yourself. There will be times when family outweighs work and times when work outweighs family; days when you have too much coffee and days when all you drink is celery juice, sections of life where physical activity replenishes your soul and others when all you need is a bag of chips and Sex & the City marathons. Ebbs and flows are normal. Take it one day at a time.”

What do you love about being a woman: “We create life, we sustain it and we raise it. We forge our own paths in life and we take charge of protecting those who mean the most to us. We are strong, powerful, feminine, masculine, smart, sexy and intelligent. Female is power.”
